JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT TEAMS Swiss Valley's JDT is open to kids age 5-14 of all skiing ability levels. The JDT program’s primary goal is to give these kids a chance to learn the art of ski racing and improve their overall skiing skills. Siblings and parents are encouraged to participate also. Team participation includes a 3-day Winter Race Camp during the holiday break along with weekly Tuesday practices. Cost is $90 per racer, $70 for each additional family member and does not include the cost of lift tickets. There will be an informational meeting on November 15, 2011. Timber Ridge's JDT program is a racing program for kids ages 5-14. The program is designed to introduce young skiers to ski racing and to provide goals and encouragement as they progress. We focus on the fundamentals of skiing, which are valuable both on and off a race course. Our program will help to improve the skills of a young skier for participation in Junior racing, Nastar racing, High School racing, CUSSA racing, and especially recreational free skiing. Practices are on Saturdays and Sundays in January and February when there is not a race. Cost is $90 per athlete, $80 for siblings and does not include the cost of lift tickets. There will be an informational meeting at 1 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Bittersweet's Junior Racers program is intended to be a fun and educational improvement program for skiers 6-18 years of age and intermediate skiing ability. Junior Racing runs every Saturday and Sunday from January 8 through February 20, 2012. Cost for Junior Racers is $100 for the season. Junior Racers who are interested in more competitive race training can join the JDT, which practices from 12-1 pm on Saturdays, for an additional $75. Discounted lift tickets and season passes are available. WIN Alpine Ski Team WIN Alpine is a year around ski club and international ski team with training camps located all over the world. With their elite coaching staff, they coach from entry level to national level status and focus on mentoring, developing, and conditioning the athletes, both mentally and physically. They offer both a Junior Development Team and USSA program that practice at Cannonsburg on Thursday and Sunday, and on Tuesdays at Mulligan's Hollow. JDT Invitational Races Bittersweet on January 22, 2012 Timber Ridge on January 29, 2012 Swiss Valley on February 5, 2012 Cannonsburg on February 18, 2012 Caberfae Peaks on February 26, 2012 ADULT RACE LEAGUES Swiss Valley's adult race league is open to any skier 21 or over. Races will be held every Wednesday night in January and February, with a different race course set up each week. Practice and instruction will be offered before each race. The eight week program costs $85 for just the racing, $185 for racing and lift tickets, or $365 for racing and an unlimited season pass. A free introductory session will be held on January 4, 2012 with racing starting the following Wednesday. Timber Ridge has a team-style Thursday Night race league that begins on January 5, 2012 and is for adults 21 and over. Co-ed teams are made up of 8 people and the league uses NASTAR scoring. Cost is $40 per person. NASTAR racing is also available most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season. Cannonsburg has a race league open to skiers and riders over 21. Every Wednesday night in January and February beginning at 6pm. This is a team event and all teams must be co-ed. Form your own team or join one of the established teams. |
