| LESSONS FIRST TIME AND BEGINNER SKIERS/SNOWBOARDERS Swiss Valley has a Sunday Family Fun program from 3-7pm that includes a lift ticket, rentals, and group 'never ever' lesson. Package with ski rentals is only $20 and only $35 with snowboard rentals. Timber Ridge has a similar Family Learn to Ski program on Sundays from 4-8pm beginning January 1, 2012. Packages are $30 for skis and $33 for snowboards. Caberfae Peaks offers a Sunday Family Fun Day each Sunday in January from 4pm to close. Three family members can get lift tickets, ski or snowboard rentals and a group beginner lesson for just $49. Additional family members are just $15. Timber Ridge's Timber Tykes is a beginning ski program for children ages 6-12. Focusing on new skiers gaining control and confidence through a series of 4 consecutive weekly lessons. Program includes 4 lessons, lifts and ski rentals for $100. Lessons are 5-6:30 pm on Tuesday 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, and 2/21/2011. Bittersweet's Sno Kids program teaches kids the basics of skiing in a group environment. For ages 6-10, every Saturday or Sunday, from 12:30 - 3:00 pm. $50 for a 2-1/2 hr lesson, plus $10 lift ticket and $10 rental. INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED LESSONS Swiss Valley offers a 4-week, progressive series for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders called Pushing the Edge. Open to skiers and snowboarders ages 12 and up. Each week will include a two hours lesson and video analysis afterwards. Cost for 8+ hours of high level coaching is only $120.00 paid in advance. Classes are held on Sunday from 10:30-12:30. SNOWBOARDING AND TERRAIN PARKS Swiss Valley's Terrain Park program will concentrate on teaching and coaching of skiing and snowboarding skills both outside and inside the terrain park. Each of the four 2-hr lessons will include coaching on several jumps and elements and video tape analysis. Cost for 8+ hours of high level coaching will only be $120.00 paid in advance. Classes are held on Sunday from 10:30-12:30. The Swiss Valley Terrain Park program will also be offered for four weeks on weeknights starting in January. The 1-hour weeknight program is just for season pass holders and ski club members and will cost just $20.00 for four hours of instruction. Bittersweet's Shredders program is for kids ages 7-12 who want to learn to snowboard quickly and safely. Shredders are taught basic turning and stopping techniques to enable them to get the most out of a safe snowboarding season. Many Shredders get the hang of snowboarding after this first lesson, and have the rest of the day to practice their new skills. The 2-hour group lesson is held every Sunday from 10-12, and costs $46 plus $10 for a discounted lift ticket. Rental is only $14. Cannonsburg Ski Area will host a two-day Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp on January 7 and 8, 2012. Freestyle lessons are available for both skiing or riding on a limited schedule. Private lessons are $40 per hour and semi-private (2 people) lessons are $60 per hour. LADIES ONLY Back for the 2011-2012 season, Swiss Valley will offer specialized ski and snowboard instruction for ladies only. Taught by busy Moms, who just happen to be lifetime skiers and boarders, this program is dedicated to women who want to stay active, participate and enjoy winter. With great instructors, a social environment, and a focus on FUN, we hope to make this more of an adventure and less of a lesson. The first assessment session is FREE and the 4-session program is $85.00, which provides comfortable coaching, patient professionals, equipment discounts and the understanding instruction that will help you enjoy the snow more than you ever have! Meet and Greet informational meeting on December 4, 2011 with sessions in January. YOUNG KIDS Bittersweet offers a 'Wee Ski' program for 4-5 year olds. Program includes instruction from 12:30-2:15 on Saturdays and Sundays. Cost is $40 for the lesson and lift ticket, and $10 for rentals. OTHER PROGRAMS FOR KIDS Swiss Valley's Valley Kids program allows parents to enjoy a day of skiing or relaxation knowing that their children are in good hands and having a great time of their own. The goal is to give each child a FUN and confident introduction to skiing and snowboarding, focusing on the fun and allowing each child to learn at their own pace. Offered December 17-18, every day December 26-January 8 (except Christmas), and then every Saturday and Sunday afterwards, including MLK and President's Day. Program runs from 10am-4pm and includes lift ticket, rental, lunch, snack breaks, on-hill instruction and caring supervision. Students can continue to use the equipment from the end of class until closing. Ski program for 4-12 year olds is $70 ($65 without rental) and snowboard program for 7-11 year olds is $85 ($75 without rental). You can also purchase a transferable Valley Kids Frequent Visitor card which gives you 5 sessions for the price of 4! Timber Ridge's Timber Wolves program is a fun-filled weekend daily program for your child with groups organized by age and ability. Offered from 11am-3pm each Saturday and Sunday (excluding 12/24 and 12/25), and each day from December 26-30. Program includes lift ticket, rental, lesson, lunch and hot chocolate break. Both skiing (5-12 year olds) and snowboarding (8-12 year olds) are $60, or $55 without rentals. Cannonsburg has a Mitey Mites program on Saturdays and Sundays for skiers and snowboarders ages 4-12. Program runs from 9am-3pm and the cost is $65 plus $15 for rental equipment. Caberfae Peaks offers their Cabby Kids Ski and Snowboard Program for skiers ages 4-10 and snowboarders ages 6-10. Your child will be playing games, which are ski and snowboard skill specific, in a fun and safe environment. Instructors work with the children on mountain safety, skating, turning, stopping and riding lifts through games and play. Offered 7 days a week, the 6 hr full day program is $64, which includes rentals, lift lunch and snacks. The 2.5 hr morning or afternoon program is $39 and includes lift, rentals and a snack. Swiss Valley, Timber Ridge and Bittersweet also offer Junior Development Teams, which teach kids how to race. See the Racing page for more information.
