| CROSS-COUNTRY SKI AREAS There are many nordic ski areas throughout Michigan. This is by no means a complete list. Be sure to check local nature centers, city and county parks for cross country skiing opportunities. Great Lakes Winter Trails Council The Cross-Country Ski areas that comprise the Great Lakes Winter Trails Council are committed to providing you with the finest and most diversified groomed cross-country skiing trails, and information about the latest cross-country trail conditions. Michigan Nordic Ski Racer Find information on nordic racing, training, equipment and an extensive trail guide listing trails throughout Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Ontario, Canada. Michigan DNR Use the search page to find trails for cross-country skiing in state parks and recreation areas. Choose 'Cross County Ski' in the Find by Activity box and hit the search button. Cross-Country Ski Headquarters Roscommon MI Retail store, rental, day lodge, restaurant and almost 20 miles of trails. Muskegon Winter Sports Complex In addition to ice skating and luging, you can also enjoy over 10 miles of Michigan's finest cross-country ski trails. The lighted trails were designed to enjoy Muskegon State Park's natural beauty and character. Five Pines Berrien Center Five Pines features one mile of groomed cross-country ski trails, with plenty of equipment available. Trails vary from hilly to flat open land in beautiful wooded countryside. Anyone from a pure beginner to the experienced skier can enjoy an afternoon on our trails. Sarett Nature Center Benton Harbor Experience the nature preserve in a new way as you enjoy cross country skiing and snowshoeing on several miles of trails throughout the 800-acre nature area. Berrien County Parks Niles and Berrien Center Madeline Bertrand County Park in Niles features three miles of level to gently rolling trails through pine and oak forests and along a bluff overlooking the St. Joseph River. Skiers may also explore trails in adjacent St. Patrick's County Park in Indiana. Love Creek County Park in Berrien Center offers five miles of open trails and challenging wooded slopes and turns. In addition to tracks for traditional or classic skiing, many trails at Love Creek include a groomed lane for cross-country ski skating. St Joseph County (Indiana) County Parks St Patrick's County Park in South Bend offers cross-country skiing and tubing Wednesday through Sunday late December through February. |
